Peru Trip

Here are photos from our Peru trip in Spring 2006. We spent a pleasant few days in Cusco exploring the city and the ruins in the hills above, and then hiked the Inca Trail. It was beautiful and amazing and all those other superlatives that everyone uses. Blahblah, but enough talking. This site is about photos, so here are the photos.

One more comment though--the food was amazing as well. Latin America is not generally considered a foodie desitination, but Peruvian food is wonderful--they make lots of wonderful soups, and their diet is based on potatoes, veggies, cheese, and bread--my four favorite things! They have giant, buttery avocadoes and wonderful mangos and sweet bananas and papayas that put ours to shame. And they have all of these wonderful potatoes in dozens of colors and shapes, that taste rich and sweet and potato-ey and would make our Russets run and hide in a corner. And I had been so proud of our California produce!

Disclaimer: These are only my favorite photos and are not a chronicle of the entire trip or region. There are many wonderful things I did not photograph and/or whose photos of mine did not turn out so good. If you want to see more wonderful photos, the google image search is your friend. For a discussion of these areas, I suggest the Wikipedia articles on Machu Picchu, The Inca Trail, and Saqsaywaman.

Also, my flower macros are here. I also would like to mention that I travelled with quite the lovely tour group, but I have no photos of them here either, mostly due to my own laziness.
